Player Notes Pros

  • High motor defender who flies all over the field & brings consistent pursuit skills

  • An attack the ball defender, thrives when given the chance to react instead of anticipate

  • Range is excellent, exposure to playing in the BIG 12 forced him to cover a lot of turf

  • Does well to drop the shoulder or shoot across the face but if you run down hill at him

  • Offers some incredible hitting power as he looks to prevent extra yards after contact

  • Sideline to sideline ability & short area juice to embarrass blockers that don't feel him

  • Fluid in underneath drops as a zone defender, loose hips to open & cut off ball carriers

  • His best asset on passing downs is as a QB spy or when he serves as a pressure player

  • He has the physical tools to improve as a hash defender in zone over top of the slot

  • He's got a really effective first step & his slashing style will create a lot of splash plays

  • Natural mover that has change of direction you'd expect from a much smaller defender

  • Able to transition very quickly, covers a lot of space thanks to explosive first step

  • Drops his hips, gears down & carries speed through turns as he pressures the pocket

Player Notes Cons

  • Angles in lateral pursuit aren't always clean, or super consistent

  • Can be guilty of coming down the LOS too flat & overrunning the play

  • He's not the most potent plug defender, through, good O-Lines will give him troubles

  • Errors & missed tackles come regularly from a lack of discipline

  • Working Brooks into a 3-down role is likely to require him to play the WILL
